Sorry, no $ announced yet.

Too bad. Would have loved him on the Leafs if the dough was reasonable. Not surprising. He played well for the Flames last year on both sides of the puck.

Yeah, the two things I want are some center ice insurance and a defensively sound sandpaper guy in the bottom six (doesn't really even need to be a center.)

Brown/Armstrong...both defensively responsible and have sandpaper.

Caputi                     Bozak                        Armstrong
Brown          Big Center they hope to sign    Orr

That could provide a fair amount of grit with Bozak the only lightweight. And depending on Bozak's transition to a checker on the 3rd line, probably not bad defensively. The big center would need to be decent on the PK and faceoffs.

I'd like to see Caputi make it. He might be able to fill that role.

Flames sign Morrison: 1yr, $1.25 Mil

Not Vokoun territory but one of the better deals of this summer in my opinion. Would have loved him at that price and term.

The signing of Morrison makes clear that Feaster still has moves to make with 13 forwards on one-way contracts, not including young Mikael Backlund.

Veteran Niklas Hagman ($3 million) is a prime candidate for a change in address should the Flames find a team ready to take a chance on him rediscovering his 20-goal form.

Apparently Langkow looked good when he returned for the last four games of the season from a lengthy neck injury. Jokinen, Backlund, Morrison, Langkow & Stajan gives them five NHL centers so moving one of them for a roster player might be an option when Morrison returns form LTIR. I suspect Phoenix would be interested. I doubt any of the vet centers interest the Leafs because for one, they're too expensive/overpaid but the domino effect might spring a center loose from another team. Unfortunately, that won't happen before camp breaks because of Morrison's injury recovery which is probably be too late as most will have set their rosters for the season by then.

Yeah, the most interesting of the Flames centres is the one that's least likely to be moved as a roster spot clearing type move. Though, it is the Flames we're talking about, so they might just be willing to give Backlund away.

Oh, I thought you were talking about Stajan.

Doesn't he have some sort of NTC?

He gonna be ready to start the season?  Read he had some injury concerns.
