Garland is nice but man  taking on OEL for 6 more years at 8.25 and they gave up the 9th overall too! I'd be pissed if Dubas made this deal.

Helps a little. I don't know exactly how OEL fell so far from the player he once was, but I wouldn't be surprised if he looked a little better out of a Coyotes uniform. Still a tough contract to absorb.

Basically a desperation move by Benning, who likely knows his job isn't very secure.

Putting aside OEL for a second, I gotta say a top-6 forward group consisting of Pettersson, Boeser, Miller, Horvat, Garland, and Pearson is actually pretty solid.

He did it to save cap because of the threat of offer sheets but he still has to pay Garland but that can be later?? I hope someone offer sheets Hughes lol. I don't get it either.

I really like this trade for the Canucks. They're going to have a pretty good top 6 and I think OEL can regain something if he's not basically asked to be the best guy on the team night in and night out.
I wish to hell I'd never said "Winning isn't everything it's the only thing". What I believe is, if you go out on a football field, or any endeavour in life, and you leave every fibre of what you have on the field, then you've won.

Go back and watch any video of Nylander stealing the puck of OEL in Arizona about 5 years back, just across the blue line in the neutral zone, taking the puck in and roofing it. Pure steal and score. OEL is overrated and not as good as ELO (by a country mile).
