Quote from: Bender on April 12, 2021, 01:24:04 PMI don't think they can play him in the bottom 6 and you're left with not great grindy options, especially if someone goes down.

I think you could have played Hall on the bottom 6 if you'd gone for sort of a Pittsburgh-ish thing the way they used Kessel. That probably would have required him to be a lot better than he's been this year but that's true of him being in the top 6 too.

That said, I also wouldn't be quick to say Foligno fills a bigger need. The Leafs right now are 5th in the league in GF/G and 7th in GA/G. Of those two numbers the one I'm actually a little more concerned about is the offense considering that A) things tighten up in the playoffs and B) I think some of the Leafs deficits offensively right now are being slightly papered over by how out of his mind good Matthews has been playing.

Yes. Foligno fits the team better then Hall does. Galchenyuk will probably stay with M&M and I can see Foligno playing with Tavares and Nylander.

Foligno can really play anywhere but my gut tells me it'll be the other way around. He'll give that M&M line a much bigger defensive boost for when they go head-to-head with McDavid or Scheifele or whoever the heck Montreal's 1C is.

I understand that Jeff Petry is Montreal's current #1 centre.

By he I meant putting Galch down :) But yes, point taken. Without Matthews who's stepping up offensively really? Not a shock that we played some of our worst hockey when his SH% dried up for a while.

Are people just refusing to talk about the fact that Hall is an absolute brain donor?

I know there aren't a lot of Mensa members in your average NHL locker room but Hall has a very public history of being a dummy at best and a misogynistic garbage fire of a human at worst.

Multiple teams or at least the people around the teams, have spoken about Hall and the people around him being an issue, in Edmonton and in New Jersey as he was going out the door.

I get that he's skilled offensively, but I think a lot of people don't want to address this stuff, but there is enough of it out there if you follow the game close enough.

I'd put him in the same category as a Hoffman type, score 50 king, but not on my team.

I don't know anything about his history but I think I referred to him as a less charismatic Phil Kessel today.

Hahah I don't bring it up when the discussion is about on-ice value as it normally is at trade deadline. I think he will fit right into Boston, and as Nik said, it will help that he is just a (scoring) guy, and not the guy.

If we were exploring an off-season UFA buy, absolutely it will come up that he is a walking barstool.

David Krejci and Craig Smith as even strength where he scored his 2 goals.

Peter D.

I totally see Hall re-signing with Boston this summer and both he and the Bruins will be better because of it.
