Alex Trebek just passed away after a fairly short battle with Pancreatic cancer. I remember watching Alex on "Reach for the Top" when I was a kid.  The show was like Jeopardy, two high schools would compete by being the first to answer questions from Mr. Trebek.  He was I believe an Ottawa boy where I took some education. It feels like a 54 year association is gone.  He will be missed.

That's really sad. I think like a lot of people watching Jeopardy was a big thing my family would do together post-dinner and so he was obviously sort of a part of that family time. If you're a trivia dork like I am his show was probably where that started for you so it's weird to even think of him being gone. I hope his family is coping as best as they can and that he was at peace.

Man, someone just pointed out on Twitter that Trebek and Connery died within a few days of each other.

Sorry Alex was born in Sudbury.

He studied at the University of Ottawa, which is probably what you?re thinking of.

Saddened by his passing. Jeopardy just won?t be the same without him.

I know famous shows go on and change but I kind of want Jeopardy to end.  Make another show and call it not Jeopardy but I have a hard time envisioning this show without Alex

Ya I knew he had ties to Ottawa.
My best friend in AZ was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he is determined to fight it and win. He is 76 and has had a great life. We are all praying for Johnny but I can't help feel that with Alex passing that it may affect his mindset. I hope not, but Alex was up for the fight from his diagnosis as well.
Man, I hate 2020.
