Team Germany vs Team USA
Team Slovakia vs Team Kazakhstan


Results for Friday Dec. 27:

Team USA 6-3 over Team Germany; and Team Slovakia beat a Team Kazakhstan 3-1.


Preliminary Round matchups:  Saturday Dec. 28th

Team Canada vs Team Russia
Team Czech Republic vs Team Germany
Team Sweden vs Team Switzerland
Team Finland vs Team Slovakia

Ouch...that might not only be the end of LaFreniere's tournament, but maybe even his season.
It's not denial...I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.



Results for Saturday Dec. 28:

Team Russia shut our Team Canada 6-0.  That's all that can be written because the Canucks were just flat today.  Canadian goaltenders faced 40 SOG which goes to show just how bad we played and how opportunistic the Russians were.  'Nuff said.  And oh yeah, it was Canada's worst showing in Workd Junior history.




Other Saturday results:

Team Sweden outdid Team Switzerland 5-2 in winning their 50th consecutive Preliminary Round game in their WJHC history.  Quite the accomplishment for the Swedes.

Team Germany outclassed Team Czech Republic 4-3; and Team Finland clobbered Team Slovakia 8-1.

Results for Sunday Dec.29:

Team USA defeated Team Russia 3-1 with Maple Leafs prospect Nick Robertson contributing a goal for his US squad.  American goalkeeper Spencer Knight was solid in stymiing Russian scoring chances.


Team Finland whomped Team Kazakhstan 7-1.

Results for Monday Dec. 30:

Team Canada sought redemption for their 6-0 losing debacle at the hand of Team Russia in their previous matchup, as the Canadians soundly vaunted past a Team Germany by a score of 4-1.  With no Alex Lafrenière in the lineup, Canada played a tighter defensive game and goaltender Joel Hofer foiled any a German scoring chances to seal the win.  Good job, guys.

Team Sweden outplayed Team Kazakhstan 6-2.  The Kazakhs have not won any games in this tournament but at least just the idea of being here and making this it this far is encouragement enough.
