I think you could easily add a couple of people in the room of the supplemental discipline team that are on the PA payroll if that was really such a big deal.

It's not just about having some level of input, it's about having an independent process and, most specifically, an independent decision maker with the final say. That absolutely is a big deal and Bettman would surrender that authority over his dead body.

They fixed it for the Dallas-Colorado game by doing nothing.

 The NBA, WBNA and MLB, who I think cancelled 2 games, really didn't do anything. The PLAYERS did it so to suggest the NHL did nothing is not really a fair criticism. According to Daly, the players were allowed to react anyway they saw fit. We'll see where this goes and see if this was the right move by the Bucks. We really don't know if this will have an effect on the people in power who can make a change. Let's see what the Leagues do today. Fact is one of the highest profile cases was Rodney King back in 1991 and the fact that it seems to be worse now is a sad state. I just don't get why it hasn't changed by now.

I agree, cancelling one or two games and then rescheduling really doesn't do much.
Cancelling an entire season says something. The players are sacrificing something of their own for what they feel is the greater good.

I don't think anyone's really under the impression that any action taken by NBA players is going to "do something" if it means substantive legislative action. I think these wildcat strikes are as effective as anything in generating attention towards their cause and beyond that there's not much players can realistically accomplish on their own. We don't know what kind of conversations players are having with ownership and there is evidence that owners are becoming more and more receptive to assisting the players with their political aims.

Also, this opens up the possibility of a much more impactful labour action down the line. Imagine players not coming out for the finals? This isn't the end of player activism, it's probably just the beginning.
