Dreger, LeBrun, Johnston, and Friedman are all placing Berube as the front-runner. Dreger is expecting the Leafs will announce the hiring on Tuesday, barring any weird changes.

I've also seen a couple of rumours from the Calgary and Toronto sides that Marc Savard would be joining him on the bench. He was the PP coach for the Blues in 2019-2020 before a head coaching stint in Windsor and then shifting to Calgary's bench last season.

QuoteSavard's philosophy is to trust his higher-skilled, offensive-minded players to be creative and free while in attack. He wants players consistently moving in order to find open spaces and constantly anticipating where their teammates will be. On breakouts, speed is the name of the game, whether that's in transition as they rush the blue line or race to the corners off a quick, short dump-in.

Savard also wants his players ready to attack off faceoffs, too. Instead of passing the puck to a defenceman so he can blast a bomb from the point, it's about working pucks to high-danger areas with quick passes. In Savard's offence, two seconds is an eternity.

"I don't like guys holding onto the puck long," Savard said.

And if the opposing team has the puck, Savard's players will work to regain possession and quickly turn them into offensive chances.

"It starts on defence, right? You've got to make teams turn the puck over," Spitfires forward Oliver Peer said. "And then once we got it, we were gone."

Good PP with the Blues, terrible with Calgary. Clear as mud.

Hahaha, good one.

So if it is Berube, can we get O'Reilly back in the Marner/Sarros trade?
I Saw Jay McClement Score.

In hindsight (or without it really), not being able to get ROR extended hurt the team very badly. Especially with how well he played for the Preds this season.

No, because we're getting Roman Josi thrown in instead.

Nothing really new here. Every insider is basically saying/hinting Berube and the Leafs are close, but Friedman's upping the credibility by putting it in writing.

His style suggests he might break down quickly, so there's a risk to it. But he'd have been ideal.

Still might...

Marner, Liljegren for O'Reilly, Saros and Josi 👍🏼

Bill_Berg

Well no one saw this coming. Maybe we can trade him for Gilmour in a couple years.

Nashville won't accept that because it doesn't include Antropov and a 2nd round pick.
