I've long waited for Canadian to make a break through at a major (and I mean win one).  Raonic had high hopes, but hasn't been able to do it, we've had others over the years, but finally now I hope Bianca can be the one.  She's a fighter, let's hope she can continue to grow her game and one day win a major.
She can start with the US Open in the next few weeks.
What did I say, I saw it coming.. Way to go Bianca, you have made Canada so proud.

When I posted this a month ago and said I hope she could one day win a major I didn't think it would happen a month later lol. Still a bit in shock this is so great

I saw it coming when she won Indian Wells.  Larry Ellison runs that tournament and is trying to make it the 5th Major tournament.  He is spending huge money in Palm Desert to make it happen.  I further predict if her health stands up, she will be #1 within 6 months with one or two more majors.

She's 700 points back from first in the Year-to-date rankings, with a number of big tournaments left (Beijing- 1000 pts to winner, Wuhan - 900 pts to winner, WTA Finals - 1500 to winner) where she only has room to go up while the four players ahead of her have lots of points they'd have to defend.  (Barty has ~1100 to defend, Pliskova ~1400, Svitolina ~1600, Osaka ~1100)

She has a chance of entering the WTA Finals as #1 (end of October), and even if she doesn't, winning there could leave her as the #1 player.  November 3rd the rankings would be updated to reflect that.

Essentially she could go from #152 on Jan 1st to #1 in just over 10 months.

That would be quite the story. 152 to 1. Now you're making me greedy :)

I feel its good to lose now and get grounded again. She played great, but there are other great players arriving on the scene. Can't do a Bouchard at this point.

Congrats to Bianca for being the winner (by unanimous vote!) of the Lou Marsh Award as Canada's athlete of the year. First time that's ever been won by a tennis player. What a great year it has been for the sport in Canada.
It's not denial...I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.
