Maybe Nash ends up being a guy like Mike Fischer who gets the itch as the season goes along.  If he wanted back in and the Leafs showed they were lacking in a 3rd line winger (or used assets to trade for an improved defense) I would certainly kick the tires on a 1-year deal for him.

I'd like him on the team as a 1-year option, especially if Babcock isn't ready to give Johnsson more playing time. But the word on him always was that he didn't want to play in Toronto. I doubt that would change at this point.

If he comes back, my money would be on San Jose. Quiet market, although one with big expectations now of course. And he's pretty much best buds with Thornton so that helps.

He will never win there, as long as Thornton is playing, Thornton is cursed.

My feeling about him not wanting to play in Toronto was more about being the main attraction here and carrying most of the responsibilities that come along with being the face of an organization.  That has all changed now with Tavares, Matthews and crew, and it's way different in Toronto than it was when he was a free agent. I still think the Leafs should consider trading Nylander for some help on D and perhaps try and bring in Nash as his replacement.

I think a lot of the "Nash doesn't want to play in Toronto" stuff is from the reports that when he was looking to leave Columbus, the Leafs were one of the teams he wouldn't waive to be traded to.

But that made sense. Rumours were Nash was leaving Columbus to go somewhere more competitive and the Leafs sucked. Now the Leafs are good and, as mentioned, he wouldn't be coming into a moribund franchise and being looked at as a guy to turn it around.
I wish to hell I'd never said "Winning isn't everything it's the only thing". What I believe is, if you go out on a football field, or any endeavour in life, and you leave every fibre of what you have on the field, then you've won.

I was just thinking about his situation last night (why, I don't know).
