Denis Shapovalov is Canada's newest tennis sensation.

Shapovalov, Israel-born & Canadian raised of Russian and Jewish decent, defeated Spain's #1 ranked Rafael Nadal in the Men's Third Round matchup of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

A fortnight later, Shapovalov came back to defeat France's Adrian Mannarino in the Men's Quarter-Final matchup.

There is nothing short this 18 year old lad can't do.  In 2016, he won the Wimbledon Junior Singles title, and his accomplishments certainly didn't stop there.  Young Denis had been rising steadily fast atop the Canadian Tennis ladder, much to no surprise to those who've known his progress over time.

So now, the nation awaits.  Shapovalov will meet Germany 's Alexandre Zverev in the Semi-Final matchup on Saturday (today).  By reaching the Semi-Finals, he thus becomes the youngest participant to achieve this feat in a Masters Series (ATP) Tournament.

Way to go, Shapovalov!

I saw him play on tv a little while ago, I don't remember when it was but I just thought he had a good game about him, really wiry and a bit of swagger. I thought I wonder if he'll be one of our better tennis players. I think he very well might be now. Raonic should be worried.

Canadian Denis Shapovalov loses to Germany's  Alexandre Zverev in the Rogers Cup Men's Semi-Final matchup in straight sets.

Though he didn't win, Shapovalov definitely gave Canadians some magical tennis moments to remember this tournament by.

Shapovalov loses to Spain's Carreno Busta in the fourth round of play in the U.S. Open Sunday at Flushing Meadows, NY on the Arthur Ashe court.

Though he lost, the young Canadian became the youngest player in the U.S. Open since 1989 to finish in the round of 16.  By doing so, he won the hearts of the New York crowd in the process.  Well done, young man.

Shapo (Shapovalov) didn't beat Spain's Rafael Nadal in the Davis Cup Final, Spain wins the title.

Great job nevertheless by Team Canada.
