That Jost looks pretty good...Barzal looks damn good.

I actually thought the team looked real sloppy early on. I also think Strome isn't that great.

He has a ways to go before he's an NHL star that's for sure.

Wow, I forgot about that. If they DID chose Marner over Strome and they got a little lottery ball help last year, MARNTHEWS would be playing for Arizona right now!

Team Canada shuts out Team Slovakia by a score of 5-0.

Canada outshot Slovakia 44-6.  Yes, you read it right.  In doing so, it gave Canadian goalkeeper Connor Ingram an off-night practically.  Canadian goals came from Taylor Raddysh,  Anthony Cirelli, Tom Chabot, Michael McLeod, and Jeremy Lauzon.

On the other side of the fence, Slovakia netminder Adam Huska wqs a busy one in attempting to salvage his much outplayed teammates, in facing the 44 shots directed at him by his opponents.

I'm just glad Arizona took Strome instead of Marner.

If Arizona did choose Marner, I wonder if the Leafs would have chosen Hanafin though.  Marner was definitely Hunter's guy.  Hanafin was Babcock's.  Who knows if anyone was truly in love with Strome in the org.

Wasn't there a draft day video of the CBJ table, where Dubas rang up Kekalainen with an offer of the 4th for their 8th + all their seconds, if Marner didn't drop to 4th? I think they were eying Werenski/Provarov as the backup plan.

I think I missed that.  Would love to see it if anyone can dig it up.

If so, proof positive they weren't in love with Strome and probably felt the difference between Hanafin/Werenski/Provorov was pretty small so they'd rather get more assets by dropping down.

I think Leafs fans would have lost their shit at the time had it played out that way.  Alot of people here were clamouring for Strome as they thought he'd be a 1st line center.  He still might be, but man, if we lost out on Marner I'd much rather have Hanafin or Werenski+ over Strome in retrospect.

What are your opinions on Philippe Myers?  Having seen more of him that I have, do you think he can play in the NHL next year?
