Who knows if Dubois will eventually be a great player, but people were all scratching their heads when Columbus passed on Poolparty at #3. It was top 3 and then the rest, and Columbus didn't listen.

No idea, but Strome at #3 was released last season as well for one more development year. He's up with Arizona, like Marner is with the Leafs this season.

Yeah but I'm saying the consensus was the top 3 in the draft were NHL ready this year and the rest of the guys were maybes. Who knows if both Finns last the entire year, but they're both off to a good start. Columbus better hope their guy pans out or they'll be complaining about that pass for a while.

Sure thing. The risk you take when drafting for need, over BPA. They should have traded down.

Maybe Torts used his influence and thought he needed more grit to play against......Detroit....? ;)

I think the idea is to use the draft +1 year to help develop Dubois as a C. Seems kind of faulty to draw much in the way of conclusions from it beyond that otherwise we could have done the same with Marner/Hanifin last year.
