Couple of good articles by Chuck Mindenhall and Josh Gross of ESPN on some guys who are now in the picture at 170. Johnny Hendricks is the guy who seems to be ready to go. Ellenberger has Diego "The Dream" Sanchez on Wednesday night on FUEL. Sanchez has been on the winning side of FOTN in has last 2 fights. Winner of this one could be right behind Hendricks in the line.

Rampage misses weight and outside of one good slam looked pretty bad tonight.

WhatIfGodWasALeaf

He supposedly blew out his knee during camp and was told he shouldn't fight, he wanted to fight through it due to the whole Pride/Japan history of it all and then he actually hurt his knee again during the fight.

You're right though, aside from the slam he was dominated and looked badly outta shape.

Oh and if Frankie Edgar decides not to drop to 145 then he should receive an instant rematch.  He gave two immediate rematches to Penn and Maynard so he sure as hell deserves one.

Darryl

Agree on the Edgar thing Patrick. Besides to me there is no stand out candidate that can't wait for a fight.

Flyrweight division kicks off this Friday.

Joseph Benavidez (15-2) vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani (19-4-6)
Demetrious Johnson (14-2) vs. Ian McCall (11-2)

seahawk

Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann plus the 125 pound semis tonight. Has the makings of an interesting card.

Rowdy Ronda Rousey is a beast!

Strikeforce needs to keep focusing on their women's divisions. The rest should shift to more of a feeder league format.

What did everyone think of the new TUF live format? You could tell it was their first time doing this but overall I liked it.

It has potential but they need to change the format for the "getting in the house" episode.

A one round fight showcases nothing that a fighter has to offer. Some fighters are better brawlers and that is all that format caters too. They should have kept the fight to two rounds and just made it two episodes.

Other than that...it is a great idea...once they hammer out all the bumps it should be better than the pre recorded version.

Overeem tested positive for higher than normal Testoserone levels.  The win vs Brock will probably be overturned, he will lose his shot at JDS and is likely done in the UFC.

Don't think it will impact on the result vs Brock. He passed all of the tests post-fight test. This test was done so he could renew his license and take the fight against JDS.

WhatIfGodWasALeaf

I'm pretty sure you're incorrect, the license he received to fight Brock was conditional on him passing two post fight tests by NSAC, this test was the second of the conditional tests.

That would see that decision overturned as he essentially fought on an invalid license and the result will be at least ruled a no contest.

seahawk

Didn't see that mentioned anywhere yesterday.

WhatIfGodWasALeaf

This is the quickest one I could find on the fly while at work, there where others that discussed the Brock fight being overturned.

QuoteIt's not the first time Overeem has run afoul of the NSAC. He was granted a conditional license to fight Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 after missing a pre-fight drug test ordered by the commission, which reinstated out-of-competition testing this past July.

Answering to the commission via telephone during an NSAC hearing held three weeks prior to UFC 141, Overeem said he missed the test because he had flown back to his native Holland to care for his ailing mother and wasn't made aware of the obligation. When he got word, he submitted an invalid blood test conducted by his personal doctor and then submitted urine that wasn't tested.

The NSAC gave him a license on the condition that he submit to a drug test conducted by an accredited laboratory, which he did two days later (and subsequently passed), as well as pass a drug test upon arriving in the U.S. for the Lesnar fight and submit to two random tests.

This past Tuesday's test served as one of those random tests, which also followed a fight-night test at UFC 141.

Darryl

MMAWeekly seems to indicate it was a surprise test.http://www.mmaweekly.com/dana-white-pissed-about-overeems-positive-drug-test-no-decision-yet-regarding-ufc-146

Either way what a joke, this will be the end of Overeem in UFC.
