Hey, remember when we were all sweating whether or not Pittsburgh would make the playoffs? And then hoping their pick would be in the 16-20 range?

Good times.

Future Conn Smythe winner with a 2-point night so far. Pens up 2-0.

I really want it to happen but there is pretty much a zero percent chance that it isn't Matt Murray at this point, right?  2.15 GAA and .924 SV%.  He just seems like the sexier choice to the voters.

I think Kessel deserves it but even when leading his team in points I don't think he has been their best forward.  I hope the voters prove me wrong because it is going to be delicious watching Steve Simmons try and rip on the organization for trading away a Conn Smythe winner for peanuts....also to watch the US get destroyed while they left a Conn Smythe winner at home who performs incredibly well in pressure situations (National teams, Playoffs).

Off topic I guess but considering Matthews and Rielly, am I the only one who's going to be rooting for Team North America against Canada?

It's generally tougher for a goalie to win the award I think, and he hasn't exactly had to constantly steal games especially in the 3rd and now 4th round. I think at this point it'll either go to Kessel or enough people will feel wrong voting for Phil in something like this so they'll default to Crosby (the 2nd most deserving choice).

Fake tournament with no real history? Yeah, I'm going to root for team 2 Maple Leafs over team 0 Maple Leafs.

That's my thinking. Add in the underdog factor and the potential awkwardness of those guys having to pretend they're really excited about winning a tournament for North America just cinches it.

Although, and I forget who said this because I wish I could give them credit, but they missed an incredible opportunity by not letting Dubas run Team NA.

I'm sure, once the tournament actually starts, I'll be all-aboard the Team Canada train, but, right now? Yeah, maybe.

Yeah Pittsburgh's been dominating teams so much territorially you haven't really even heard that much about Murray other than the comments each game about his age and how many wins he has for his age in the playoffs.

San Jose Manly Sharks.  Shave!!  The lack of wind resistance should be enough to get you a win or two go get back in the series.

I love you Phil Kessel, you uncouth, petulant, sack of elite hockey skills.  [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXdNnw99-Ic]

Did you know that he has a lot of wins for his age?

I really think Dubas' former SOO goalie Murray also has a legit shot at the Smythe.

I expected more from the Sharks this series.  But other than Jumbo Joe's line, the rest of the team has been dominated all over the ice.

This isn't a debate I like to get involved in because it always comes down to the definition of "valuable" but is there any real doubt as to what player's absence would cause the most trouble for Pittsburgh?

Crosby doing what he's done against who he's done it against is, in context, I think easily the most impressive performance of the playoffs.

Pittsburgh  3   San Jose 1.   Penguins lead series 3 games to 1.

Evgeni Malkin with two points, Phil Kessel with two assists, and goaltender Matthew Murray with key saves.  Those were all the ingredients leading the Penguins to a convincing victory.

Converting on their power plays, playing with renewed confidence after their loss in Game 3, all lines clicking, blocking shots, using their speed advantageously, is it any wonder that the San Jose Sharks find themselves on the brink of elimination, and Pittsburgh one more win away from winning Lord Stanley's coveted Cup.

Sharks' forward Logan Couture summed it up well:
"We didn't generate enough chances, but neither did they," Sharks centre Logan Couture said. "They scored on their chances and we didn't."

Added coach DeBoer:
"We've been chasing the game the whole series by not scoring first," said Sharks coach Pete DeBoer. "That takes you out of your four-line rhythm. It affects all parts of your game."

It just goes to show, fellas, that the Penguins are that good.

Game 5 goes Thursday in Pittsburgh.
