Looked to me like he just side-stepped a hit and the Russian player knocked himself out of position (though I am sort of bouncing back and forth between it and work so maybe I missed it fully).

Yeah, I'd probably agree with you mostly, looked like Laine pushed him a little and in this tournament I've seen them call a lot less.
