There's been rumours for a little bit now that Winnipeg would be moving their AHL team from St. John's back to Manitoba, and that Montreal would move the Bulldogs from Hamilton to St. John's.

It's starting to seem pretty likely that those moves will happen as there's a report out now saying that the OHL's Belleville Bulls have been sold and will be moving to Hamilton:

As a Hamiltonian, I'd support this. I never cared much about the Bulldogs. AHL hockey doesn't interest me and the fact that it's stocked with Montreal prospects makes them difficult to cheer for anyway.

lucky you if you get an OHL team. I love the Barrie Colts and watching them play against Owen Sound/Erie/North Bay etc etc etc... so many names that are familiar in the NHL now, that I remember from their OHL days: Tavares/Clutterbuck/Little/Czekezs (sp!) etc....It's so cool to watch them develop into the superstars they become later

I've been hearing this for a while, but I thought it was Fort Erie moving.  I've heard rumblings about them building a smaller 10000 seat arena for it on the mountain.

I think Erie was linked to Hamilton quite a bit but I'm pretty sure they're moving to Flint, Michigan now. A location on the mountain would be fantastic, haven't heard anything about that though.

edit: oops, I was thinking of Plymouth of course, they're the ones going to Flint

Flint?

Talk about picking a loser out of the gate.

Kind of sucks.  I like the small-town aspect of junior hockey.

It can work in a small town. Need committed civic partners though. From the sound of it, that wasn't the case. Building needed work or replacement and the city didn't make a commitment.
