I read all the criticisms of him, and then I also read that scouts will watch him and he'll just effortlessly carry the puck up ice through the other team and gain the zone and it's just like....gah.  I'd be terrible at making tough drafting choices.

I want a defenceman who'll show some effort when he carries the puck.

Not to make this a thing or anything but isn't that kind of a weird reason to root for someone?

Yeah I kinda thought that might come up. I mean, his brother did a terrible thing no doubt about that. And any struggles that accident caused the Day family pale in comparison to what the other family went through. Maybe root was the wrong word, I'm just a little more understanding towards his perceived struggles at that time in his life. He had other things going on besides hockey.

Yeah it's not the sort of insane struggles some people go through like cancer, or if the NHL was mean to him after he was voted into an ASG.

Outlets included in these rankings are:

Corey Pronman (ESPN Insider), Mark Seidel (NACS), Damien Cox (Sportsnet), Craig Button (TSN), Ryan Kennedy (THN), HockeyProspect.com, Future Considerations, ISS, McKeen's Hockey

That's a solid list, but Damien Cox? Really?? Is this Sportsnet's answer to Bob McKenzie?

Laine has way more points than Puljujarvi

I thought the same. I kind of group Button in the same class as Cox (though Button does have some credentials).

I enjoy Button a lot more than Cox, but he would be the next guy to get the axe from that list.

Mr. Leaf

Does anyone know the date of the draft yet?  I think it's usually around the last Friday in June so I'm assuming it will be June 24?

What about the date of the lottery? That's the more important date.
