They just came out with the Emmy nominations and I have to say I'm pretty pleasantly surprised.

Emmy nominations

Nice to see Justified getting some recognition for the terrific season they had. Same with Peter Dinklage on Game of Thrones, Louis CK for Louie and Idris Elba getting a couple nods. Shame there was no such love for Sons of Anarchy, Nick Offerman or Archer though.

Surprised Big Bang Theory got nominated over Community. I loved BBT, but this season was very mediocre.

It's a safer pick than Community - while this season was pretty mediocre, it still brought in better ratings than pretty much every other sitcom. It almost had to get a nomination.

Yeah, I guess. But they already had all the usual suspects in The Office, 30 Rock, Glee, and Modern Family (Glee was also had a not-so-great season, and while I haven't watched the Office in years I haven't heard that many good things). I thought they could have replaced one of those "safe" picks with a show that still pretty popular and much funnier (in my opinion of course).

I'm guessing they just had the one spot for a show that doesn't do very well in the ratings but is a critical success and they gave it to Parks and Rec.

That would make sense. I thought Parks and Rec. had higher ratings than it did.

Never underestimate the US audience to come out in droves for formulaic comedy that runs well past the "Jumped the Shark" phase.  I don't think the Office has been good in 2-3 years.

Yeah. 4 or 5 seasons seems to be the shelf life for most good sitcoms. Very few can really maintain the funny for longer than that.

Yeah, it's funny but most of NBC's thurday night comedies, 30 Rock, Community and Parks and Rec are good and do poorly while The Office is kind of weak but the only hit of the bunch. No accounting for taste, I suppose.

Disappointed Sons of Anarchy had no noms at all. The last show of the season, with the incredible twist should have got it for writing if not for Best Drama
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

The Catalyst?

Tigger

Finally got to see the first episode of Luther, good to see Stringer Bell land on his feet, great performance and decent writing.

I still think that the Office is great. Not in the same class as Community, but a lot stronger than 30 Rock which last two seasons have been mediocre.

Also, Sean Bean was deserving of a nod for Game of Thrones.

Yeah, I probably agree in the sense that I don't think there's much separating The Office and 30 Rock at this point. That said, for me, in order of quality it goes The Office, 30 Rock then a long ways to Community and then a much longer ways to Parks and Rec at the top.

I think Parks and Rec kind of dropped off this season. My order, as I'm sure everyone was wondering would be 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, The Office, and Community being in a class by itself.
