I really can't understand why fans would boo a player for trying to get money. It's not like he posted youtube videos of himself punching kittens.

Using the "he's already made $40M" argument is weak. No sure how that has any bearing on anything.

I personally wouldn't boo Nolan over this, but I'm not much of a boo-er.

I was just suggesting a reason he might get booed, I knew that whole situation left some fans bitter.

I'm not much of a booer either. If I was, it would be for on-ice antics though, rather than someone trying to earn some extra money (whether they need it or not.)

As a player, I'm left with the feeling that he didn't quite achieve his potential. But while he was a Leaf, there were a few games when he delivered one of the most complete games I've seen any Leaf forward deliver. He could skate, hit, score, set players up, fight, protect little guys like Stajan, play defence, PK and win puck battles, and even call the Sens out with "boo hoo"  :), etc. He truly was capable of doing it all. He just didn't do it enough.

Wasn't it like 2 games after he chirped a team for being sick that he blew his knee?

Closer to two months. And Toronto went on to win the game when he was injured ..  ;)

My feeling is, a club should either be rebuilding or winning the Cup.  Anything in-between is a waste of time.  I think Nolan falls into the potential winning category, while the players they gave up had a certain ceiling that would never take them all the way.

I don't know that there's a huge point to booing anyone for any real reason. I get it as sort of a spontaneous reaction to poor play but other than that it tends to strike me as petty.

That said, I certainly understand why a fan would not be thrilled with Nolan. His play was inconsistent and the trade was lousy.

Seriously. McCauley alone gave the Sharks more value than Nolan gave the Leafs.
