MacLean, Boudreau and Quenneville.

I'm sure many expected Carlyle to be up for this award, with a similar argument to be made for Therrien and even a guy like Todd Richards.

All did great jobs, but none are more deserving than MacLean in my eyes.

I'd probably go with Quenneville here.
I wish to hell I'd never said "Winning isn't everything it's the only thing". What I believe is, if you go out on a football field, or any endeavour in life, and you leave every fibre of what you have on the field, then you've won.

My vote is for Maclean.  Who cares if chicago did well with a stacked team.  The sens did well with a bunch of nobodys.

Sure, if you frame in the least accurate way possible where both teams "did well". But the difference between Chicago and Ottawa is a greater difference than Ottawa and the worst team in the league. Chicago was on a 132 point pace which would have tied the 76-77 Habs for the most of all time.

That would be like saying that Clarke MacArthur is a more valuable player than Sidney Crosby because they both "did well" but MacArthur makes a lot less money.

I would have gone with Therrien 1 and Capuano 2. Habs finsihed third worst in league last year to the 2nd seed in the East with ost of the same guys. Capuano did wonders in Long Island as well.. Don't see any need for Coach Q or even Boudreau. Boudreau may be there casue the Ducks underachieved year before.

much as I hate the senators, my vote goes to the fat walrus :) if for nothing else but rising above the montreal crap.

Well, it was MacLean. Fair enough choice, even if I think that the way the award is determined these days is essentially the media congratulating themselves.

They should re-name the Jack Adams Award the "Coach of the Team That Outperformed Expectations the Most Award"

Yeah, that's what I mean. It's like the media collectively say "There's no possible way that we could have just been wrong about how good a team is, therefore their unexpected success must be the result of brilliant coaching".

Bull's-eye.
