Time out from golf to tell you that Brent Burns has a 5 year extension with SJ at $5.76m. Now where the heck is my ball?

Burns has the potential to be a top-10 defenceman in the league. He's had some injury problems but last year he showed what he can do when healthy. This contract should look pretty good in a few years if he's injury woes are behind him.

I'd be locking up that asset as well. Good deal if he can keep his numbers up, which shouldn't be hard in San Jose. I bet he improves his average season numbers.

I'm very interested to see what Burns can do on a team that isn't defense first, his numbers might climb playing for San Josen rather then Minny.

Still surprised to see Minny trade him.
