In a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Semi-Final, the Abbotsford Heat exacted a bit of revenge on the Toronto Marlies on Thursday night.

A bizarre play led to Abbotsford’s second goal of the evening, which occurred just 3 seconds after the Heat had taken a 1-0 lead on a penalty-kill. Centre Ben Street shot the puck towards the Marlies goal off the ensuing faceoff at centre ice. The puck managed to elude Marlies goaltender Ben Scrivens. As mentioned in the Yahoo! Puck Daddy blog the play happened so quickly that Street’s goal eluded the television cameras.

The Heat set an AHL record for fastest two goals by one team.

The rematch is tonight at Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre, and can be heard on TSN 1050.
