Matt Gilroy has signed a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the NY Rangers, in what has been a highly eventful week for the captain of the Boston University Terriers.

On April 10, Gilroy was named the winner of the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in collegiate hockey. The following day, he lead BU to a come-from-behind win in the championship game at the Frozen Four tournament.

Gilroy was aggressively pursued by Leafs president and general manager Brian Burke, who earlier this month successfully courted NCAA free agents Tyler Bozak and Christian Hanson to sign as Maple Leafs.
