Jaime Sifers has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, the Maple Leafs announced on Monday. Sifers registered two assists in 14 games earlier with the Leafs this season. The recall comes as a result of a lower-body injury to Leafs defenceman Mike Van Ryn, who suffered the injury in the second period of Saturday’s game in Montreal.

In 28 games with the Marlies in 2008-09, Sifers has two goals and 11 points.

The Leafs’ next game is Tuesday night in Florida when they face the Panthers.
