The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed free agent defenceman Roman Polak to a one-year contract.

Polak split last season between Toronto and San Jose. He one goal and 12 assists in 55 games with the Leafs before being dealt to the Sharks along with forward Nick Spaling in exchange for the Sharks’ second-round selections from the 2017 and 2018 Entry Drafts and forward Raffi Torres on February 22, 2016.

With the Sharks, Polak registered three assists in 24 regular season games and played in 24 playoff outings during San Jose’s appearance in the Stanley Cup Final.
