The Toronto Marlies dropped a 6-2 decision to the Texas Stars in Game Seven of the Western Conference Finals series on Tuesday, ending their season.

The Marlies had vaulted to a 2-0 lead on goals by Frazer McLaren and Peter Holland.

But a pair of two-goal bursts by Texas sealed Toronto’s fate. In the second period, the Stars scored twice in 51 seconds to tie the game. Then in the third period, two Texas goals in 17 seconds put a strangehold on the series.

Toronto failed to convert on a four-minute power-play as time wound down in regulation. A late Texas goal followed by an empty-netter rounded out the scoring.
