-Goaltender Vesa Toskala tweaked his groin, and left the game after giving up three goals in 3:13 of the second period. Toskala told reporters that he believed he suffered the injury on New York’s second goal
-John Mitchell did not play after the first period after suffering a knee injury. Head coach Ron Wilson did not provide a timetable for his return.
-Phil Kessel led the Leafs with 12 shots on goal, more than half of the Islanders’ team total of 21.
-The Islanders’ John Tavares, born in Mississauga, Ont., logged 17:42 of ice time with 1 shots on goal.
