Noteworthy:
-Phil Kessel played 23:50 in his Leafs debut with 10 shots on goal and 2 PIM. Kessel absorbed a solid open-ice hit from Tampa defenceman Mattias Ohlund in the first period. “I don’t remember getting that hard in a long time,” said Kessel after the game.
-Toronto’s power-play was ranked 2nd in the league at 28.0% heading into Tuesday’s game. The Leafs went 1-for-8 on the power-play against Tampa.
