Brian Burke addresses media

Leafs president and general manager Brian Burke addressed the media at the team’s charity golf event on Monday.

Not surprising, Burke expressed his displeasure at ESPN The Magazine who rated the Maple Leafs last of all 122 teams in the big four North American pro sports. “I think their hockey coverage stinks,” said Burke. “I don’t think they know anything about Canada. I don’t think they know anything about hockey.”

Addressing the state of collective bargaining talks, Burke mentioned his participation in some of the meetings, but that was the extent of his disclosure. “I wish I could say more. I mean, you guys know me: ‘no comment’ is not something that comes out of these lips easily. But we’re not allowed to speak about it, and we’re not going to speak about it.”

Burke also threw his full support behind his current goaltending tandem of James Reimer and Ben Scrivens.
