The Maple Leafs have recalled Joey MacDonald from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, president and GM Brian Burke announced Tuesday.
MacDonald appeared in three games for the Leafs in October, with a 3.35 goals against average and a save percentage of .875. He has a record of 2-4-0 with the Marlies so far this year.
Leafs goalie Vesa Toskala reinjured his groin in the second period of last night’s game against the New York Islanders and has been placed on injured reserve. Forward John Mitchell suffered a knee injury in the same game and joins Toskala on the IR.
