The Maple Leafs will be looking to shake their three-game losing streak when they host the Atlanta Thrashers this evening (7:30pm, TSN, AM640). Toronto has been outscored by a lopsided margin of 16-4 over the losing skid. Defenceman Luke Schenn skated briefly with the team yesterday, and is expected to return to the lineup in about a week.
At the World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa, Canada found another gear and potted three third-period goals on the way to a 5-1 win over Germany. The host country faces the United States on New Year’s Eve in a showdown for the top seed in the pool and an automatic berth in the semi-final.
In other NHL news, the Habs won their 3,000th game in franchise history with a victory over the Florida Panthers.
