With the tragedy of the passing of Brendan Burke still fresh in everyone’s mind, the Leafs played their most complete game of the season, thumping Ottawa 5-0 to bring an end to the Senators’ 11-game winning streak. Brendan Burke, Brian Burke’s youngest son, was honoured with a moment of silence at Air Canada Centre prior to the opening faceoff.
J.S. Giguere posted his second consecutive shutout, becoming the first goalie in franchise history to play his first two games in a Leafs uniform without allowing a goal. Phil Kessel and Luke Schenn each scored twice, while Tyler Bozak also scored for the Leafs.
