The Maple Leafs hung for a 3-2 victory over the Hurricanes at RBC Center on Friday night, firmly entrenching themselves into the 29th overall spot in the NHL standings.

John Mitchell notched his first goal of the season with Nikolai Kulemin and Jason Blake getting the other goals for Toronto. Jonas Gustavsson was superb in goal making 34 saves while Phil Kessel registered his first point as a Leaf.

Toronto hosts the Detroit Red Wings this evening in the annual Hockey Hall of Fame game. Wings legend Steve Yzerman is one of four players who will be inducted into the hall on Monday.

With the Royal Winter Fair moving into Ricoh Coliseum for a couple of weeks, the Toronto Marlies kicked off a six-game road trip last night. Viktor Stalberg and Christian Hanson each had a goal and an assist as the Marlies prevailed 3-2 over the Lake Erie Monsters.
