Mats Sundin, the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced his retirement on Wednesday. Sundin, the first overall draft pick by the Quebec Nordiques in 1989, spent 13 seasons in a Leafs uniform, and captained the team from 1997-2008.
“Toronto is and will always be my second home,” Sundin said as he addressed reporters.
In Huntsville, Ontario where the Leafs are wrapping up their team bonding sessions, defenceman Mike Komisarek missed practice due to a sore hamstring. But the blueliner should be ready to face his former team, the Canadiens, at ACC tomorrow night when the Leafs open the season.
