The Leafs closed out the pre-season with a 7-6 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday night. Viktor Stalberg scored his team-leading sixth goal of the exhibition season and has solidified a place on the opening night roster.
“In my mind’s eye, Stalberg will be in the starting lineup Thursday night,” said Leafs coach Ron Wilson.
To answer any goaltending questions, Wilson also promptly stated:
“And I’ll just say right now, Vesa will be starting on Thursday so there’s no controversy.”
The Leafs players head to Huntsville for some orientation sessions that include paintballing and golf.
Toronto opens the regular season on Thursday when they host the Montreal Canadiens.
In Scotland, the Toronto Marlies dropped the final of the Gardiner Cup to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
