Monday news: Burke praises JFJ for drafting Stalberg, Gunnarsson

Much-maligned former Leafs GM John Ferguson Jr. received praise from Brian Burke, writes Steve Buffery in today’s Toronto Sun. With JFJ draft picks Viktor Stalberg and Carl Gunnarsson turning heads in training camp, Burke wants to give credit where it is due.

“Fergie is a good man,” Burke said yesterday. “And since he got thumped for everything he did wrong, I’m determined to see he gets praise for the stuff he did right.”

Three days after Phil Kessel was traded to Toronto, there is no shortage of opinions on the deal.
