Tweet from Gino Reda of TSN says 37.5 M
Year 1: 4 + 4M signing bonus
Year 2: 5 + 3M signing bonus
Year 3: 8M
Year 4: 8M
Year 5: 5.5M

Strange that he accepted the dip in salary in his 5th year. Yzerman seemed to really play hardball here in these negotiations. That could bite him in the butt if Stamkos walks when he gets the chance.

I dont think it was Stevie Y at all... I bet he wanted Stamkos even longer, to lock up 1 or 2 of those UFA years

Seems like a pretty good deal for Tampa.

I can hardly wait for the uproar that will happen here in five years. :)
In five years, he'll have so many concussions it won't matter.
No goons, no respect, no star players.

There are lots of star players in the NHL that have never had a concussion. Iginla, OV, St Louis etc.

I might be convinced that this is indeed the case.

You know who isn't among that list?  Stamkos.

Are people saying Stamkos has had a concussion?  (I don't recall.)

Also:  <Insert sarcastic remark about how I was soooo sure that Stamkos was going to be offer-sheeted and that Stevie Y was just going to give him up to another team ...>

Decent deal for both.  Good job, Stevie Y!

I think there is a good chance he'll be a leaf after that deal is done. I know a lot of people say that Toronto players like to come home, but with him, I actually think it's true.

Begin 5 years of discussion and hope .................. now!

I'm not as sure it'll happen with Stamkos, especially if Tampa continues to play well.  From the pre-draft impressions I got, I think Tavares is a more likely candidate to "come home" as a UFA and wants to play for his favorite team...

I get that, but only because I think the Islanders are a bad organization under their current owner and management. I did however, think that Stamkos was looking a bit disappointed when he was drafted, hoping that somebody made a move to get him. I think he is a real professional though and actually likes Tampa Bay more now than he did at the draft. But if he has the opportunity to come to Toronto as a UFA, I think that will be hard for him not to explore and I do think he will come.

I can't see Stamkos being disappointed that he was drafted by Tampa when they ran that "Seen Stamkos?" PR campaign
for months before the draft. That would have been a PR disaster for TB had they traded the pick/Stamkos.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

You're probably right about the trading the pick part from an organizational aspect, but to me, he didn't look happy. Anything can happen on the draft floor, marketing a specific player before hand wouldn't dictate whether they accept a lopsided offer. I'm just saying, hew didn't look happy to me. Maybe I misread it, but he didn't look thrilled.

Well, the Leafs are Stamkos' favorite team as well.  I remember reading some kind of interview when he was with Sarnia saying he'd love to be a Leaf.  But a lot will depend on where TB & TO are, respectively, in 2016.  Yzerman succeeding Burke as our GM in 2013 will help, that's for sure.  8)
