He really didn't have much to work with, agreed. So you still find negatives and it seems you'll always look for those faults until when.....they bring home the cup? We all want it, baby steps dude. or do you think we can do this faster?  anyway I look at it, probably 2 or 3 years before we compete seriously for the cup. IMO.

Once we start beating the Bruins on a consistent basis is the time we turn into contenders IMO. At least 2 seasons off.

I dunno, Carolina swept the season series against them, personally I don't look at that as being terribly meaningful.

The Leafs won last years season series 4-2...

Edit to add: I do agree that the Leafs are probably two years-ish-y away from really contending.

I believe they are at least two years out, but with a few good FA pick-ups and a couple of our prospects maturing a bit early, we could make it real interesting. In the mean time, all the playoff expierience we can get can only help in the long term.  I like what I see and hope we can gel going into these 2012 playoffs on a sprint. The players seem to like and respect their coach. But, not everybody thinks that, and that is their opinion. Not mine.

Just finished watching the 'at the half' segment on 'the coach' channel at the Leafs website, pretty good interview with Henny and Wilson on a variety of players and subjects including some comments about how they handled Setoguchi in San Jose, why Gunnar is so effective ( compares him to 'pickles' ) and why the pk and times short handed has been so different recently.

Goalies can't make 1000 point blank stops a game.

Don't tell Pat Quinn, circa CuJo/Belfour era, that.
