Where was Salming?  Our answer to Lindstrom.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

From Mirtle...

"Winter Classic on NBC tied as the highest-rated NHL regular-season game in nearly four decades." Leafs didn't hurt the draw apparently...

@SWhyno

Clarifying... #Leafs will wear Winter Classic TWO more times, 3 total this season. Jan 18 vs. #Habs, Feb. 7 vs. #Canucks.

I'm not surprised.  It's an event now.  I think big events tend to transcend the participants.

Continue to laugh when fans of other Canadian teams whine about Leafs coverage:

Quote
On Friday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation said 3.57-million viewers tuned in to the Toronto vs. Detroit game in Ann Arbor, Mich., which ended in a shootout win by the Maple Leafs. That is almost 90 per cent higher than the previous record of 1.91-million viewers, set during the Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins game in 2011, which aired in prime time after poor weather forced the postponement of the afternoon-scheduled game.

This year’s Winter Classic was the first to include a Canadian team since the annual event was created in 2008. There was no game last year, due to the NHL lockout.

The Canadian ratings topped the 3.4-million viewers who tuned in to CBC for the final game of last year’s Chicago vs. Boston Stanley Cup Finals.

And the U.S. broadcast was a blockbuster too - at least in American terms - with 4.4-million viewers tuning in, making it the second most-watched regular season NHL game since 1975.

Shoddy journalism,  I say. It says this was the "second most-watched regular season NHL game since 1975" without telling us what was the most-watched. Anyone know?

I believe it tied the 2009 Winter Classic.

Hey Potvin,  where did you get that quote about Kessel's skating, if he is not one of the quickest guys in the league and his skating is not elite then he must have some rockets inserted in the skate blades.

Results and performance have to be more than something said in interviews but Tim Leiweke gave a really good interview today regarding the Leafs Centennial and what he wants to do in terms of building the future/honouring the past.

I'll try and find a link for it.  It was on the Leafs radio show on Fan590 starting at 5pm.

I went to the game and it was epic! I honestly don't know if I could ever have better sports experience. Not even a Super Bowl would top the 2014 Classic for me! It was amazing, the atmosphere, the crowd, the weather! Over the moon with experience I had. Would not trade the experience for anything.

Once the game ended though, the combination of that many people leaving and snow equaled a complete mess. Luckily we could walk to our hotel which was exhausting in the snow with all our winter gear on.

What were the views like? I often wonder whether the less than stellar view would off set the enjoyment of the event and atmosphere?

I found the views great.  Could follow the puck fine, and the spectacle of the stadium itself full of people alone is something to see.
