Deschamps seems like run of the mill minor league depth, perhaps it's Burke buttering up the Ducks, giving them some size in hopes of fleecing them in another deal down the line, ala Lupul and Gardiner for Beauchemin.

It's probably a little unfair to label a guy who's only 22 as just minor league depth. He had a pretty good rookie year in the AHL too.

I think, because of the age and injuries, Deschamps is probably the better prospect at this point although I agree it's not a big deal either way.

True enough, not right to write him off, he is having a weak year thus far, I'm sure Burke see's something in him back from when he drafted him.

My Bad. Didn't see this thread.

Minor league trade at best. Whens the big one coming Brian? Its time to shake up the bench.

20 years ago the Doug Gimour trade went down. Now that was a trade!! :)

Caputi wasn't NHL bound anyway. Taking on Deschamps is basically a shot in the dark that he shows some unexpected development, but in all likelihood this will probably be remembered as a nothing trade.

And that reaffirms to me why I don't listen to FM Radio anymore.

KyleTheReporter: Nicolas Deschamps has a goal tonight for the Marlies, just hours after being traded for. Good start #Marlies #Leafs #TMLtalk

Nik should be happy... If Kulemin gets traded, there will be another Nik (Nic) in the system making it a streak for as long as I can remember.

Caputi -1 in his debut (he was on the ice for Deschamps goal)

Now flip him to the Habs for something better while they're still all going crazy over the French language/Quebec stuff.

So, any time in the next century, then? I mean, even when the Habs are winning, the language stuff tends to come up.

They've been freaking out extra lately.

I suppose so, or, it's just getting more national attention.
