I think from an asset management perspective it would've been for the best, but you kind of wonder what it would've done to the belief in management in the room a la St. Louis Blues. I would've totally been ok with one of them going though.

Well, in a way wouldn't that have worked out perfectly? You trade JVR, Bozak and Komarov at the deadline and everyone in the room is all "Doesn't management believe in us?"

Then you don't renew Lamoriello and Dubas comes in and is all "Oh, man, can you believe that guy didn't believe in you? Now let's see what kind of defenseman I can trade for with all this deadline loot!"

Things are off to an unfortunate start for JVR... he'll be out 5-6 weeks with a lower body injury (probably knee).
