Blow past Marincin? For all we know Marincin might be a starter.

I mean, I doubt it, but you never know.

I doubt it too.   I mean as long as Borgman and/or Rosen don't completely blow up during the season, or there's some injuries on the blueline, I don't see Marincin getting any kind of shot.  He's just there as a 7th guy insurance.

The big test for Borgman/Rosen will be how they handle PK minutes on a regular basis.

Last season two of Polak/Marincin/Hunwick played about 2:50 a night on the penalty kill. Rielly was at 2:20 and Zaitsev 1:43. I doubt they want to raise those minutes. Hainsey will eat up a lot of those minutes (he averaged about 3:00 per game last season), but that still leaves a big chunk left for probably that #6 guy. If Borgman can't handle them then Marincin, who Babcock called an "elite" penalty killer just last March, will get his chance again.

Really though, Borgman has blown past everyone.  18 months ago he was playing 2nd Tier Swedish hockey (at age 20).  I don't think you'll find many guys who were there at that age that broke into the NHL.  A late bloomer rising very quickly.

I was a little surprised to see Rielly listed as our biggest defenceman at 217 lbs. I'm not entirely sure that's an optimal weight for him, but we'll see how that plays out. I'm pretty sure he's been around the 200-205 lbs mark previously.

Love the depth at forward....injuries can, for the most part, be easily filled...unless we go like Florida last year....

But that's exactly what happened. I'd argue that Marincin is 8th on the D depth chart behind Borgman and Rosen now. The only reason why he's here and Rosen isn't is because he can't go up and down with impunity like Calle can. It's only a matter of time before guys like Dermott and Liljegren are knocking at the door as well.

Corrado 2.0... Rosen is better off playing for the Marlies and will probably play in event of an injury over Marincin.

Well, its more than just going up or down with impunity.  Why have a guy like Rosen or Dermott sitting in the pressbox waiting for an injury instead of playing big minutes with the Marlies developing further?
