For Bozak and Komarov, I do think some of the younger players could have provided close to equal value but its not a sure thing.  For JvR I disagree:  JvR was a top 93 forward in the NHL last year.  Considering we barely squeaked into the playoffs, not having him last year probably would have cost us a playoff spot..

I think that largely depends on what options they had for replacing these guys which, if they'd done it prior to last year starting(say in the general scrapping of the team) they would not have been forced to go with internal options.

I would just like to point out that in the Lupul thread I referenced Casablanca, the Godfather and Opera Philosophica et Theologica.

2017 and NHL.com still doesn't have game logs for half the games and doesn't track preseason stats.

I wonder how much that has to do with so many games being played in non-NHL buildings, and, therefore, possibly with non-NHL stats people.

Ricoh has no play-by-play data for this reason.

And it's not just a matter of having people there, as there is video infrastructure required.

I don't think you even need TOI stuff.  Even just having goals, assists, points, +/-, SOG, GAA, SV% PIM stuff.  The basic stats.  You don't need high tech cameras for that.

Also, why is CBSsportsline able to have the NHL preseason stats if the NHL isn't?

Because they're willing to provide stats that are recorded by non-NHL stats people, while the NHL is not? If the league only considers stats recorded by their people to be official - and their people aren't recording all the pre-season stats - it makes sense that they'd choose to post nothing instead of incomplete stats or stats they clearly consider to be unofficial.

EDIT: Also, there's possibly contractual/union type issues at play.
