This guy is pretty amazing, and to be able to do it with all that unprofessional facial hair getting in the way makes it even more amazing. I am not sure why he hasn't formally changed his name to Hatrik.

Sounds like Ron Francis has effectively been fired in Carolina.

This is a twitter thread that should be read by anyone who wants to know what Russian hockey is all about.

I have a few choice words on what I think about Putin.

That whole thing was crazy. I knew that SKA was stacked and had ties to Putin, but I didn't realize just how fixed it all was.

I should have expected it, given how Putin's government strives to fix things, but I'm surprised how deep it goes, and how complicit everyone at a leverage point is.

They better stay the hell away from Dubas/Keefe.

Actually, I wouldn't mind their public interest forcing Shanahan's hand here to name Dubas as the GM out loud.

Written and posted a few days before Slava's thread.

The scheme is exactly what the Russian Ice Hockey Federation had planned: SKA is officially regarded as the “base club of the national team”. This phrase has been said so many times it makes me flinch. I know I am not alone in the sentiment.

I genuinely fear for Slava a little, another Russian dissident and his daughter have both just been poisoned in the UK via some toxic nerve agent.

Dundon is rather interesting.

“I don’t know other owners, I’m assuming they have sign-off. But that’s how I look at this. Green and red you can prove, yellow is the things that are debatable. I have no interest in yellow. We have to create the structure so that we know the difference…I want to make as few decisions as possible, because we’ve created a structure that is clearer for everyone.”

Speculation seemed to be that Dundon would be looking for what amounted to a figurehead GM and would be making a lot of personnel decisions himself. It's hard to imagine that's a job that would interest Dubas.

Per the usual suspects Dubas has turned down all overtures since the Colorado/new contract situation last summer, he's the heir apparent in Toronto and appears to have had some guarantees about next year and isn't even interested in interviewing elsewhere now.
