Dear Teams

Please send me offers of a young goal scorer that you would be willing to trade me for my not so young player who doesn't seem to be able to score.

Thanks
Bergevin

This is super similar to Edmonton trading away all their players that had down years (SH%) for character guys.

I kind of get it from Ottawa's perspective. If the thought around there is they don't really have a good path towards contention and last year's run was just smoke and mirrors they're going to want to start peeling off assets sooner rather than later. Also, if they are legitimately concerned about money up there it doesn't make sense to spend what they're spending for these results.

Sure, those guys are having bad years but I think they're established enough that it wouldn't diminish their value too much. Or at least not when compared to hanging onto them in the hopes they have a good year but burn a year off of two very team friendly contracts.

In terms of lessons for the Leafs here, when people ask "How are the Leafs going to replace JVR if they trade him" these are two more examples of how while scoring wingers aren't exactly a dime a dozen they are the easiest positions to fill when the team really feels it's ready to make a push.

Matt Frattin plays for this team. In fact their top 5 players are all Canadian.

I thought the crowd here would appreciate this. My only regret is that I didn't drop this one first.

I've been pretty regular about it too, until now. Should I be concerned? Paging Dr. L K...

I wonder how they'd adapt to Babcock's 'dump and chase' system

Any chance that Jason Woolley was involved? Or Conor Sheary?

A fun article from Wyshynski at ESPN looking at what Olympic rosters might have looked like with NHL players. Those proposed 3rd and 4th Canadian lines would have been a blast to watch.

I'm genuinely bummed we're not going to see that American team too. I mean on paper Canada should still crush them but that's the best group they've maybe ever had. Would have been a good match-up.
