Won't someone think of poor Nikita Soshnikov?

I'm not aware of poor Nikita Soshnikov. I am, however, somewhat familiar with financially stable Nikita Soshnikov.

Won't someone please think of rich when compared to the general masses but poor when compared to the rest of his peer group Nikita Soshnikov?

Players don't peek at 23 - 24, Steve Y continued to get until he was 30. Bozak had his best season last year at 30. Kapanen score a total of 1 in 17 games in the regular season.
Why is he a better choice over Brown IMO he has not proven he better is any shape or form

Yzerman's best year was in 1988-89 when he was 23. He scored 155 points. His point totals decreased YOY after that. He had one anomaly year in 92-93 where he scored 137 points, but he was 28 years old then. The overall trend holds true for Stevie Y too.

Players don't peek

Because that's the locker room code.

When raw point totals don't tell the whole story:

Connor Brown, Draft+3 (2014-2015):  76 Games, 45 Even Strength Points (16 PP).  0.59 ES Pts/G
Connor Brown, Draft+4 (2015-2016):  34 Games, 21 Even Strength Points (8 PP).  0.61 ES Pts/G
Kasperi Kapanen, Draft+3 (2016-2017):  43 Games, 20 Even Strength Points (23 PP).  0.46 ES Pts/G

Kapanen had a HUGE boost in his numbers from playing on a great Power Play with the Marlies last year.  His Even Strength performance is still lacking in comparison to Connor Brown.  Not saying Kapanen won't be better, he just isn't at this point.

Man, I wish I could think of a team that achieved success by putting rookies in significant roles without needing them to prove they were better than the guys they replaced.

When raw point totals don't tell the whole story:

Connor Brown, Draft+2 (2014-2015):  76 Games, 45 Even Strength Points (16 PP).  0.59 ES Pts/G
Connor Brown, Draft+3 (2015-2016):  34 Games, 21 Even Strength Points (8 PP).  0.61 ES Pts/G
Kasperi Kapanen, Draft+2 (2016-2017):  43 Games, 20 Even Strength Points (23 PP).  0.46 ES Pts/G

Leaving aside that ES point totals aren't the be all and end all of evaluation ai small nitpick, because it's fun with you, is that Brown's first AHL season and Kapanen's last season are their Draft +3 years, not +2. Your first year of eligibility is your draft year and your next year is draft +1.

Ooops.  Yes, you are right and I even knew that but still made the mistake!

As for ES point totals not being the be all and end all- agreed.  Good luck finding better information from the AHL.

disco posted a link in the other thread where Brown talked a little bit about wanting to be a Leaf for life: https://mapleleafshotstove.com/2017/08/30/leafs-links-andreas-borgman-toronto-team-showed-competitive-connor-brown-im-always-trying-set-leaf-life-patrick-marleau-arrives/

We all joke about hometown discounts when it came to someone like Stamkos or potentially a Tavares, but Brown is legitimately a guy I could see continuing to sign team-friendly deals to remain in Toronto.
