Laine got 3 first place votes. 3 people decided to go with the guy who had less goals, less points, played with better line mates, played the less demanding position and didn't lead his team to the playoffs.

Good job.

I could buy those votes going to Werenski.  Having the season that he did as a defenseman on a playoff team.  Extremely impressive.   It's silly when it comes to Laie.

Also a little surprising Marner did that much better than Nylander.

Tortorella wins the Adams. Not surprising. It's a goofy award, this fits in with the criteria usually used.

To run that team HALF FULL of rookies from the start, guiding them along the way and letting them make mistakes... from 30th to a playoff berth. Helluva job Babs. I know I'm biased but a HELLUVA DAMN JOB.

Narrowly edging out last April's lottery drawing and McDavid's self-repairing collarbone.

Babcock finished 2nd, one point ahead of Mclellan. It wasn't super close.

Missing the playoffs shouldn't disqualify you from Adams consideration but, still, Jon Cooper got a second place vote. Losing Stamkos hurt and everything but that was still a pretty talented team.
