Does this make it easier for us to eventually get Sergachev? :)

VAN extends Gudbranson 1 yr 3.5M.

Which is good for me because the chance he becomes a Leaf is 0%.

Incarcerated Bob, a twitter user who semi-broke the Subban and Hall deals last year, is beating the drum that the Leafs are about to make a splash for a defenseman (Hamonic, De Haan, Vatanen, or Barrie). Apply grain of salt liberally. I want Trouba.

Oh great, Incarcerated Bob, about as reliable as Eklund.

He's mildly more reliable, in that he might have a 4% success rate compared to Eklund's 3%.

I think anyone on here can have that success rate just with educated guesses of the names that are thrown around.

Oh, I agree. I think the only real difference is that bob doesn't through the Leafs/Habs/Rangers/Flyers into rumours about every big name player to get clicks, since he doesn't have his own website.

Bob McKenzie tweeted that Jonas Brodin's name has been brought up.

Which means Minnesota is set to lose Brodin AND one of Dumba/Scandella/Niederreitter?

He uses his "fame" to sell sports bets, so he's 100% profiting off all that crap. I just imagine hockey fans aren't really driving his sales in that regard.

ANA has put Simon Despres on waivers for an intended buyout. But he was on LTIR all of last season with concussion symptoms... is that buyoutable?

Edit: looks like he was activated from IR during the playoffs vs EDM. The player can also grant permission otherwise.

If this is a 1/3 buyout of a player still unable to play, the NHLPA better bring out the big guns.

Despres could be an interesting player to take a flyer on with a league minimum one year deal, if he's healthy enough to go.
