Hey.  We're hoping to move this website to a new server between now and Sunday.

This means that some posts will likely go missing.  The site will likely be down for a number of hours. 

There is also a slight risk that the forums may have to be closed for good.  We're doing all we can to have this not happen.

I don't understand why you would move to a new server if there was a risk of losing the forums!  For me and I assume many others the forums are the site!

Hopefully Rick is playing an early April Fool's joke.  I would be sad if the forums went away.

If this is a money issue I'm sure most of us who hang out here on a regular basis would be happy to help in any way we can. 

Haven't donated in a while, I just keep forgetting.

It would be nice, if the forums are going to go away if we have a heads up, since I know I would like to keep up with the gang.

The current server that I rent is $205/mth. The new server we're moving to - shared with some other sites - is around $25/mth.  Tmlfans brings in less than $50/mth with ads. Upwards of $150/mth was coming out of my pocket to host TMLFANS. And I hate asking for donations...

The new server company says they are capable of hosting these SMF forums.  So I've got my fingers crossed.  It should work but I have no backup plan - yet - if the installation goes awry.  That's the story.

Have you any sort of way of keeping people up to date if the unthinkable does happen and forums do disappear? A Twitter feed? Or will the tmlfans web site other than the forums survive?

Maybe a Facebook page?  I seem to remember there used to be one but don't think there currently is.

There are also several free board options that could be used should it come to that.

It looks like a move won't happen this weekend.  Likely in a week or so.  I'll give lots of notice that we'll be shut down for a few hours once it's ready to happen.

I'm pretty confident we'll survive the move

Update.  Server issues.  It's gonna be a process.  There are 6 websites on our server.  To do it right, I have to move 5 of them in a certain order.  Lots of tech shit to unwind after each move.

So I'm looking at first week of April as the move date.
