"Rick Nash, Michael Grabner and Nick Holden set to hit the open market in July, while top-pairing defenceman Ryan McDonagh and forward Mats Zuccarello are set to become part of the 2019 free-agent class. Brooks believes selling Nash and Grabner could land the Rangers as many as two first-round picks, but it's trading McDonagh that could alter the course of the franchise.

He notes that Tampa Bay and Toronto could both have interest in the blueliner and a return for the Rangers could be Mitch Marner from the Leafs or standout rookie Mikhail Sergachev from the Lightning."

This is from Larry Brooks on why the Rangers should tear down and rebuild.  Not sure I would do that deal Larry.

I mean that's probably a fair ask to make from the Rangers end. And it should be clear that Brooks isn't citing a rumour here or anything, he's just naming names. Any beat reporter is naturally going to bring up Marner and Nylander's name when it comes to a top defenceman being available, but Bob McKenzie's latest article about OEL trade speculation (which basically said that there isn't any) made it clear that Shanahan fully intends to build a championship team around the big-3.

Earlier in the year there was a debate "did we draft the right guy taking Marner? We could have had Hanifin"

Mitch, you have to do this more often. You have the technology.

 ;D  Good one

The stickhandling in his 2nd rush late, where he took an almost identical  shot but didn't score, was even better IMO.
